Pratyush Deb, born in 1985 in Chandigarh, is a versatile writer. Deb’s literary journey began at the age of nine when his first short story was published in a national newspaper. He is an empathetic chronicler of the fascinating diversity and fragility of human existence, along with animals and environment. His two published anthologies, Thereepooty and Other Stories and A Boat on the Sea of Stories have enthralled readers with their originality and diversity of genres.
As a student, he was a recipient of two prestigious national scholarships: the National Talent Search (NTS) awarded by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), and the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) awarded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India.
Inspired by his own experience, his work explores a wide range of themes, always leaving readers with a positive takeaway. With a degree in IT and nearly a decade of industry experience, Deb later pursued his passion for creative writing. His work, praised by both professionals and lay readers, showcases a mastery of language and a refreshingly personal style. His hobbies include writing computer code and delving into subjects like cryptozoology, unidentified aerial phenomena, extra-terrestrials and the ancient astronaut theory.
